Every choice behind the the products we stock is made for a reason. Not because something is fashionable. Not because it’s loud or everywhere. But because it genuinely works, tastes good, and aligns with the kind of values we believe are worth standing behind.


Oat milk is one of those choices that really matters.


With every man and his dog launching an oat milk these days, it would’ve been easy to grab whatever was cheapest, or most recognisable (don't get Alison started!), or easiest to order in.


But if you're offering non-dairy alternatives of which one is oat, it plays a huge role in how coffee tastes - and for us this choice deserved more thought than that.


That’s how Unordinary Oat Milk came into the picture.


The problem with most oat milks

Oat milk should be simple. Somewhere along the way, it stopped being so.


A lot of oat milks on the market rely on:

  • Added oils to create artificial creaminess

  • Gums and stabilisers that overpower coffee (check the ingredients carefully!)

  • High sugar content that masks, rather than complements, good beans


In coffee, this really shows.


Poor oat milk will flatten flavour, split when heated, or turn a carefully balanced espresso into something overly sweet and cereal-like. When time, care and effort go into sourcing good beans and training baristas well, that just doesn’t sit right with us.

Being proud farming supporters isn’t a marketing line, a trend to jump on. For us it’s a conscious 'our' life choice to invest in British growers and producers who are doing things properly. It's that simple.
